Lores Terms and Conditions of Sale
These Terms and Conditions govern the sale of all pre-made and pre-order jewellery and services offered by Lores, operated by Lorna McNaught. By purchasing from the website, you accept these terms in full.
Please Note
These Terms apply only to ‘in stock’ and ‘made to order’ items sold through the Lores website. Bespoke jewellery, including any customised or altered designs, is subject to separate bespoke terms and conditions. If your order involves bespoke work, please refer to the bespoke terms and conditions for full details regarding deposits, quotations, production, and final pricing.
Purchases
When you purchase a product or service through the website, you must provide accurate information, including payment details and billing and shipping addresses. By providing this information, you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method and that all information supplied is current and complete. Payment information may be shared with third parties solely to facilitate your purchase.
Made To Order Items
‘Made to order’ items are sold at the full price shown on the website. Payment is taken in full at the time of ordering. Production of the item begins after the order is placed. ‘Made to order’ items are non-refundable except in cases of a verified manufacturing fault. Lores reserves the right to decide whether a partial refund or exchange is appropriate.
Deposits are only applicable for bespoke items. Customers should refer to the bespoke terms and conditions for information regarding deposits, quotations, and refunds for bespoke work.
Invoices and Payment
For ‘in stock’ or ‘made to order’ items, payment is required in full at the time of purchase. Unpaid orders will not be processed. For bespoke work, the initial deposit must be received before production begins.
Final invoices for bespoke jewellery must be paid before collection or dispatch. If payment of a final invoice is not received, Lores reserves the right to retain the completed jewellery until payment is made. Any costs incurred as a result of non-payment may be pursued through a debt collection agency or legal channels. No late payment fees are applied for unpaid deposits; however, work will not commence until payment is received.
Handmade Quality and Manufacturing Standards
All jewellery created by Lores is handmade by an independent designer-maker. As with all handmade goods, finished pieces may carry subtle characteristics that distinguish them from factory-produced jewellery. Minor variations in finish, texture, or form are an inherent and valued part of the handmade process and do not constitute a flaw. Lores takes great care in the making and finishing of every piece and works to the highest standard achievable within the nature of handmade craft.
Where a genuine flaw is identified, the remedy offered will depend on the nature of the piece. For stock items, Lores will assess the concern and offer a repair in the first instance. Where a repair is not possible, an exchange or refund will be offered at Lores' discretion in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
For bespoke commissioned pieces, Lores reserves the right to remedy any genuine flaw through repair in the first instance. If repair is not possible or has been attempted and failed, a remake will be offered. A partial refund may be considered as a last resort only where both repair and remake have been exhausted or are not possible. Unlike stock items, bespoke commissions involve extensive costs that are incurred throughout the making process, well before the finished piece is collected. These include but are not limited to: design consultations, quotation time, stone-sourcing, CAD design, wax carving, hand-manufacturing, casting, alloying, casting charges, mould price hallmarking, stone-cutting, stone-setting, finishing, packaging, postage to and from suppliers, postage to the client and all associated administration and communications. In the event that a partial refund is agreed, the ring must be returned to Lores in full and any refund issued will reflect the final price paid minus all costs already incurred in the making of the piece. Bespoke pieces are made to the client's individual specification and approved design and are not eligible for return or refund on the basis of personal preference or change of mind.
