Kelp Ring
This ring was hand carved in wax, direct cast into silver and features a synthetic colour-change sapphire. Inspired by seaweed, a beautiful and abundant macro-algae which grows in colonies to form underwater forests, these provide shelter and food for a variety of organisms.
One particular red seaweed called Porphyra is known as ‘nori’ in Japan and is used to make sushi. Seaweed can grow 2ft in one day and is only now being recognised for its potential uses combatting climate change. Super-powered seaweeds are estimated to be absorbing around 190 million tons of carbon each year, about as much as the annual emissions of the state of New York.
This ring is size T.5
This item is in stock. Please allow a week for processing, packaging, and posting your jewellery.
You can request different sizes, metals and gemstones or even fully bespoke designs using the contact section of my website. If you do decide to change anything, the piece would become bespoke, extending the lead time to 8-10 weeks. Your piece may arrive with you much sooner than this, but we always allow a longer timeframe to account for any delays in the production process. These timeframes may vary slightly, but this is the nature of handmade work.
Your jewellery may vary ever so slightly from that in the photos. This is because it has been made by a real human, not in a factory. We believe this to be key to the experience of handmade jewellery, that each piece is genuinely unique.
